Congratulations to Jim Andorko, NIH and AAPS graduate fellow, who has a new paper from the lab in Acta Biomaterialia. Jim's work focuses on rapidly-degradable polymers that are becoming imporatnt as vaccines carriers. His studies demosntrate that these materials can activate immune signaling pathways even in the absence of other vaccine components, and that the specific effects depend on material properties and the level of polymer degradation. Congratulations to Jim and co-authors Krystina Hess and Kevin Pineault. The paper is open access and available here.

Best wishes to everyone for a happy and productive 2016! Congratulations to Dr. Yu-Chieh Chiu, NIH Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab, whose paper is featured on the December cover of ACS Biomaterials Science and Engineering. Follow the links to view the cover and read the article.
Five Jewell lab abstracts selected for podium presentations at World Biomaterials Congress12/13/2015
Every four years the biomaterials community convenes for the World Biomaterials Congress. The 10th Congress will be held during May 2016 in Montreal, QC, Canada. Five members of the Jewell Lab submitted abstracts to the meeting, and all five were selected for oral presentations - congratulations! The speakers are:
-Jim Andorko, AAPS Graduate Fellow -Dr. Yu-Chieh Chiu, NIH Postdoctoral Fellow -Joshua Gammon, Pediatric Oncology Student Training Graduate Fellow -Krystina Hess, DoD SMART Graduate Fellow -Lisa Tostanoski, NSF Graduate Fellow and Bioengineering Fischell Fellow Congratulations to Jim, Yu-Chieh, Josh, Krystina, and Lisa! Read more about them on our team page, or follow the link to learn about the World Biomaterials Congress. See you in Montreal!!! Congratulations to AAPS Graduate Fellow Jim Andorko, who has been selected as a member of the newest class of Future Faculty Program (FFP) Fellows. This year 20 new fellows were selected for FFP across the entire A. James Clark School of Engineering. The FFP provides training and specialized opportunities to prepare outstanding graduate students for independence and to lead top labs of their own as they progress in their career. Congratulations to Jim!
