The Melanoma Research Alliance has named Prof. Jewell a Young Investigator. This 3-year award will support cancer vaccine research aimed at generating more specific anti-tumor responses that could also help prevent cancer relapse. The Melanoma Research Alliance is a leading funder of melanoma research, committed to accelerating scientific discovery and the development of new treatments. Thanks to MRA and co-funded Damon Runyon Foundation for this generous support in the fight against cancer.

Prof. Jewell presented an invited seminar to the Nanomedicine-Nanotech Interest Group (Nano-SIG) at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda on Wednesday. The Nano-SIG is an NIH Inter-institute Interest Group that brings together diverse multidisciplinary researchers with common research interests in Nanotechnology, Nanoscience and Nanomedicine. Thanks to SIG leader Dr. Xiaoyuan (Shawn) Chen from the NIBIB for the invitation and to all the attendees for fantastic discussion.

Congratulations to Dr. Peipei Zhang, postdoctoral researcher, for the publication of a new paper from our lab in ACS Nano! Peipei's paper describes a new type of nanoscale coating that is assembled from immune signals to enhance vaccination.

Congratulations to graduate student Krystina Hess for receiving the award for the Bioengineering Dept. at today's ResearchFest, a joint event sponsored by the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Dept, the Bioengineering Dept., and the dept. of Materials Science Engineering. Krystina received the award for her work aimed at a new type of nanoparticle for combatting autoimmune disease. She is also a Department of Defense SMART Fellow. Congratulations to all the participants and awardees!
