This week's issue of Science Translational Medicine (STM) includes a new editorial by Prof. Jewell highlighting research that could improve the success of implantable materials for cranial bone repair by utilizing degradable metal alloys. Dr. Jewell is an Associate Scientific Advisor at STM.

Eugene completed his B.S. in Biochemistry & Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland and worked as an IRTA Fellow at NIH for the past year. Eugene has also been awarded the Clark School's new Graduate Fellowship (Congrats!!).

Congratulations to Dr. Qin Zeng, postdoc in the lab, and Jessica Yau, HHMI Undergrad Fellow in the lab, who have both received travel awards to attend the national meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Society. Jessica has received the university's Capstone Travel Award and Qin has received the university's Postdoctoral Conference Award. Keep up the good work!

Prof. Jewell spent this past week with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to support pediatric cancer research during the annual Young Investigator Summit and the LA Loves Alex's Lemonade fundraiser.
