Jewell Research Lab awarded $375,000 grant to develop new pediatric cancer vaccine technology1/7/2014
The Jewell Research lab has been awarded a 3 year $375,000 research grant from Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to develop a new therapeutic vaccine for neuroblastoma, one of the most challenging types of pediatric cancer. In additional to supporting preclinical research, the grant will also provide new connections with leading clinicians in neuroblastoma research, including Dr. Jewell's collaborator, Dr. Tony Sandler, Chief of Surgery at Children's National Medical Center.

Congratulations to Jim and Lisa on their first paper! Happy New Year! To kick off 2014, two new graduate students have joined the lab.
Krystina L. Hess is a PhD candidate. She completed her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering at Syracuse University and rotated in the Jewell lab during the fall. Joshua M. Gammon completed his B.S in Bioengineering here at UMCP. Since graduating Josh has worked as a technician in the lab and made the decision to apply for a M.S. degree in the fall.
