Maryam Mukhamedova, a junior in the Fischell Department of Bioengineering, is the recipient of an Undergraduate Research Fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Maryam was selected to receive this award based on a research proposal, and her academic and past research accomplishments. The HHMI fellowship will provide research and salary support for Maryam to carryout her proposal aimed at using biomaterials to solubilize drugs that could help promote immunological tolerance. Congratulations Maryam!

PhD Candidate James Andorko has won the best poster award at the 39th annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference (NEBEC). Jim's poster was titled "Development of Stealth Polymeric Ultrasound Contrast Agents" and described his recent work completed during his Master's degree with Dr. Margaret Wheatley at Drexel before arriving at UMD. Congratulations Jim!
