Prof. Jewell and recent work from the lab were featured this week in U.S. News and World Reports. The article focused on new technologies that might improve treatments for autoimmunity and some of the open questions that will be important to answer.

Dr. Jewell and Lisa Tostanoski, NSF Graduate Fellow, attended the annual Terps on the Hill event this week in the Gold Room of the U.S. Capital's Rayburn Office Building. Thanks to the University of Maryland for the invitation to mingle and present some of the lab's work to United States congressional representatives.
Congratulations to Douti, Emily, Haleigh, Michelle, Qin, and Shannon. All of their abstracts were selected for presentation at the national meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) being held this October in Phoenix, AZ. See you there!

This week's issue of Science Translational Medicine (STM) includes a new editorial by Prof. Jewell highlighting research that could make joint replacements faster and safer using biomaterials to clear infection without antibiotic resistance, but while maintaining the mechanical properties needed for mobility. Dr. Jewell is an Associate Scientific Advisor at STM.
